Covacsis gets funds from Reliance Industries, Cisco venture capital arms.
Tarun is the Founder and CEO of Covacsis. Tarun has been an independent consultant to leading corporations across sector in India.
After graduating from IIT Bombay, Tarun worked with a multi-national technology company in the space of Banking, Financial and Retail products in Canada.
His first stint of entrepreneurship came in 2003 when he founded a company that provided e-governance solutions. His company delivered a Real-time Revenue Recognition platform for the City of New York, State of Tennessee and the State of Kansas in USA; Manitoba State Canada; and Department of Internal Affairs for the Government of New Zealand.
Post acquisition of his first company, Tarun worked as an independent consultant in the Strategy and Business Consulting area to companies in the telecom, banking, petroleum and software sectors.
He founded Covacsis in 2009 with Abhijeet Mhatre.
Abhijeet Mhatre is the co-founder of Covacsis and heads Research, Development & Innovation.
He has been instrumental in conceiving and developing various innovative solutions in data acquisition.
Abhijeet has more than 14 years of experience in various product startups on embedded systems.
He holds a masters degree in Physics from IIT Bombay.
Rajan is a technology, innovation and risk management professional working as a Senior Vice President in Chairman’s Office in Reliance Industries Ltd. In his 16+ years with RIL, he has worked in all businesses of the group including Energy, Retail and Telecom. As a member of the initial start-up team, he helped chalk out the business strategy and execution plans of Reliance Retail – India’s largest retailer. He has been responsible for strategic oversight and capacity building of the Corporate Security function.
Rajan is amongst India’s foremost automation experts with 25 years of experience in driving complex technology, enterprise security and business transformation programs. Starting in 1999, he has been a pioneer in design, engineering and execution of large-scale Internet of Things (IoT) projects for security automation. Rajan is a Director on the Board of Reliance Aerospace Technologies, Covacsis Technologies and Videonetics Technology. He has keen interest and strong competencies in Cyber Physical Systems, IoT, Industry 4.0, Smart Buildings, Cognitive Computing, Cyber Resilience, Biometrics, UAVs, and Enterprise Risk Management. As a member of GenNext Innovation Hub, he is engaged in identifying and nurturing promising start-ups in these domains.
Given his in-depth knowledge of Smart Cities and Homeland Security, he has provided guidance on various government initiatives. He was instrumental in setting up of India’s first Social Media Lab for Mumbai Police, a NASSCOM initiative in partnership with Reliance Foundation. Rajan is an Engineering graduate and holds an executive MBA with specialization in National Security & Counter-Terrorism. He is a member of the FICCI Committee on Homeland Security and Bureau of Indian Standards sub-committee on Alarms & Electronic Security Systems. He sits on the Editorial Board of Security Today and FSAI Journal and is a regular speaker at major events in India and globally.
Mr. Karthik B. Reddy co-founded Blume Venture Advisors in 2010 and serves as its Managing Partner. He serves as an Advisor of Valgen Infosystems Pvt Limited and Valgen Infosystems Pvt Limited. Kathik is a Board Observer of Insieve. He has over 15 years of finance, investment banking, technology, and operations experience. Since returning to India in 2006, he has been a media investment banker with SSKI (now part of IDFC), and a part of Brand Capital / Private Treaties at Times Group, where Kathik has sponsored over 50 investments in three years, and most importantly, as an Angel Investor at Mumbai Angels since 2008, where he has made about 10 investments to date. He began his career at American Express Bank in Mumbai, then moved to the U.S., where he worked at ABN AMRO Investment Banking; Softalia; and at Instinet.
Kathik is also an Advisor and Board Member of Earth2Orbit. He serves on the board of Missisippy, Shantani, Algorhythm, Red Quanta Pvt. Kathik holds an M.B.A. both from IIM Bangalore and the Wharton School in 2001 and is an engineering major from IIT Roorkee.
Alok is a senior executive with over 17 years of diverse experience with some of the Top global companies (AT&T/BellSouth and Bain & Co – both in the US; Tata Administrative Service and Cisco in India). He has also been a successful entrepreneur, co-founding a B2B e-commerce company in India which was later acquired by a large public listed organization in 2005. In his current VC and M&A leadership role for CiscoAsia Pacific, he works closely with high growth technology companies as a Board Member.
Prior to Cisco, Alok was a Vice President with Tata Communications (TCL) and led their Managed Services and Industry Solutions businesses. This portfolio included several business lines that were strategic to TCL as it transitioned to an Enterprise telecom company from a wholesale bandwidth provider. He was also the head for Marketing for Tata Communications.
Alok currently leads Cisco’s venture capital investments and M&A for India and Australia/NZ. In this role he and his team are responsible for driving new investments and managing Cisco’s existing portfolio of investments (both direct investments in companies and LP investments in Funds). Besides Covacsis, Alok serves on the Boards of Servion (Chennai), WSO2 (Sri Lanka) and Global Talent Track (Pune).
Alok's international experience includes working with BellSouth in the USwhere he led product management for their enterprise data products. He also worked with Bain & Company (US), a top global management consulting firm.
Alok holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Delhi and an MBA with Honors from Wharton Business School, USA.
Amit Phadnis is the Vice President of the Enterprise Networking Group with Cisco Systems in India. In this role Amit leads the strategy, engineering, and business direction of Cisco's networking technology for the enterprise segment in India and South East Asia. This includes the Cisco Catalyst families of switches; Enterprise Routing; Wireless networking; and Solutions for all industry segments of the Enterprise, Industrial Automation, Small Business, and Emerging markets.
Amit has made significant contributions to Switching and Routing technologies. A technical leader with over 22 years of experience, he has grown in pace with Cisco in India. Currently, he has 25 patent applications filed with US PTO, of which over 20 of them have been already issued.
Amit was one of the first managers to join Cisco when it started operations in India circa 1999. Over the years, he has worked towards building world classteams in India. Today he leads over 1500 engineers directly and has been leading the site strategy for India with the India EngineeringBoard, contributing to a number of Engineering-wide initiatives on the talent and technology innovation fronts. Amit has also been driving the Capability BuildingProgram, designed for developing site capability across India, with active participation from the Distinguished and Principal Engineer community across Cisco.
Before joining Cisco, Amit was the Country Manager/CEO and Vice President of Engineering at Symbol-Motorola. In his role with Symbol, Amit was involved in building a strong product organisation as a country manager. He contributed to technologies related to handheld computing, wireless and RFID. Amit has a Masters degree in Electronics and Communication from the Indian Institute of Science(IISc), Bangalore. As a speaker, Amit has shared his views on technology in the areas of Networking, Supply Logistics, Asset Visibility, and Technology in Retail, among others.
